Upgrading Internet Explorer
You can upgrade the version of Internet Explorer on your computer. This can be downloaded from the internet and automatically installed. Check that you are using IE8 which is the latest and most stable version.
Resetting Settings
Open Internet Explorer 8 and click on Tools and then click on Internet Options. This will allow you to change a number of different settings. You will need to click the button to clear the settings and restore it to the defaults. This fixes almost all problems and will make your computer much faster.

If there are problems with your internet connections then this can also slow your internet down. Check that your internet is working properly. Check that the modem is set up properly.

Try disabling the add-ons in the browser by opening it and then clicking Tools, Internet Options. Then select the Programs tab and click the button to Manage Add-ons. This will make it possible to control and disable add-ons which will make your computer much faster.

If there are any computer viruses or spyware on your computer then this can make your computer much slower than it should be. Use a virus scanner and spyware scanner to detect the errors and put an end to them.
